Native to Michigan.
Small to medium sized tree, growing to about 25' at maturity. Very distinct, almost tropical appearance to leaves. Fruits are edible, also a favorite of many animals. Will only produce fruits when grown in groupings of two or more trees.
Soils: Requires fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic soil for best production. Will not grow well on heavy, water-logged soils. Prefers full sun; will fruit in shade (significantly less). Young seedlings need some protection from the sun in the first few years, though they will fruit best in full sun once they're established. Solid tree tubes are great for these.
One gallon (6'') pot, 12"-15" tall.
